ZIFO

A seamless system to integrate the workflows of a laboratory ecosystem.

Organizing and maintaining a laboratory ecosystem can be difficult. ZIFO does this with ease by integrating the workflows of a lab into one seamless system. “Cuttle” is the tool that they want to build which can monitor and execute workflows across multiple user profiles.

Our main goal is to create a system that’s tailor made for each user profiles and doesn’t deviate in terms of behaviour and usability.

Discovery

We conducted the discovery workshop to understand the business goals, define the problem and understand their users. We collaborated with the Stakeholders to understand the workflow from their perspective and try to see how they handle day to day complexities.

User flow of Cards 91

Deep Dive, Empathise, and Create reference points.

We conducted user interviews, gathered their problems and analysed them to curate it in the form of user persona. This helps as a reference point whenever a user story has been placed for a discussion between us and the stakeholder, which helped us not to deviate from the core problems.

Dr. Robin Williams

Lab Admin, 36 yrs

Robin Williams is working at Zigri Labs and has an experience of around 10 years. He loves reading science journals and research papers, publications to know about new innovations happening in the industry. He acts as a liason between scientists and lab analysts while maintaining the lab and planning resources. As a part of my daily activities i forecast demand of work for near future. He is responsible for instrument maintenance, designing new protocols, reviewing and sharing the sample analysis results back with scientists.

Pain Points
  1. -Difficulty in managing resources.
  2. -Tedious process to forecast demand.
  3. -Tiresome end-to-end documentation.
  4. -Maintaining data integrity.

Stephanie Jacquline

Lab Analyst, 27 yrs

Stephanie completed her majors in Biology and have an overall experience of 2 years working at Zigri Lab. Her work involves analysing the samples using the protocol steps to utmost precision and documenting the readings. She wants to design protocols and raise up the ladder.

Pain Points
  1. -Documenting data large volumes of data
  2. -Missing protocol steps
  3. -Time-taking and tiresome to enter data into multiple systems.
  4. -Don’t know if instruments are calibrated or prepared for procedure.

John Pierce

Lab Support, 24 yrs

John is working with Zigri Labs from two years and he has expereince working with lab instruments & its associated software. His job is to make sure all the instruments are connected and working properly. Sometime, he may also make models.

Pain Points
  1. -Difficult to find out what is causing the issue
  2. -Don’t know if any instrument goes offline
  3. -Too much time-taking to create protocols
  4. -Creating complex protocols is a challenge

Dr. Steve Regan

Chief Scientist, 48 yrs

Dr.Steve has double Ph.D in biotechnology and his dream is to invent a drug for diseases caused by mutations. He works with his team of people to make sure the research happens smoothly. He send the samples to the Lab admins or lab analysts for analysis.

Pain Points
  1. -Not knowing what is the status of analysis
  2. -Research delay due to instrument anamolies

Paul Meyer

IT Suppoer, 25 yrs

Paul has been working as software developer for 1year and he has good knowledge on building software for scientific instruments. He make sure that all instruments are connected to cuttle platform and there is no downtime.

Pain Points
  1. -Difficult to find out what is causing the issue
  2. -Don’t know if any instrument goes offline

Ideate solutions, understand the outcomes and get to the execution.

Breaking complex problem into simpler ones by decoding them as user scenarios. We brainstormed and narrowed down solution for each user stories by providing task level details. We managed to create user-flow and information architecture guided by our user stories.

Setup the workflow templates for the queries to easily assign, process and produce results.

Establishing workflow templates for queries streamlines processing, providing a standardized framework for efficient handling. This accelerates the production of results, enhances consistency, and optimizes resource utilization in the task execution process.

Efficient automation of assigning and tracking queries

Setting up workflows that guide the entire process from query submission to resolution. Workflows may include steps like initial assessment, assignment, progress tracking, escalation, and closure. Automation helps in moving queries seamlessly through these stages.

Manage and store decades of valuable data

The ecosystem involves implementing robust data governance, scalable storage solutions, and seamless integration. This ensures accessibility, security, and insights for informed decision-making over an extended period.

Advanced and complex search experience

As the archival stores heavy load of data, the retrieval of specific files is complex. We made sure it can easily be fetched using human based query search rather than complex coding.

Store  and manage heavy metadata effectively and effortlessly

As many files would have multiple metadata in it that captures vital information. We made sure creating and managing them can be done easily without dropping a sweat.

View contents of your file swiftly

The design of archival is made in such a way that, you can easily preview the meta data and details of the file or folder without getting into a dedicated detailed page.

Analyse and visualise real-time data to take better decisions at the right time.

It enables timely decision-making by providing immediate insights into current conditions. This agile approach enhances responsiveness, strategic planning, and overall decision quality in dynamic environments.
